How We Spent New Year's Day

Well, friends, New Year's Day has been & gone. NYD of 2012 Luke & I started our own little tradition of having a picnic every New Year's Day, and now it is extra special that we have Romy to come along with us. Last New Year's Day picnic she was just sitting up by herself and had finally got the knack of the tambourine, & this New Year's Day picnic she sat for her allocated eating time & then was up and exploring. Luke threw together an easy peasy picnic of leftover quinoa fritters, roasted sweet potato, deli meats, cheese & fruit slices. We held off until after Romy's nap in the late afternoon because it was so hot & heavy outside. After we left the park Romy came home to run under the sprinkler with Luke while I organised our evening. Luke & I had had a low-key evening the night before, we both worked New Year's Eve day so we actually ended up falling asleep before midnight - saaaa old, right?! So it was nice to wake up fresh faced for the new year & spend the whole day together as a family.

Lately

1 First ponytail. Ever.
2 Some of my extended family were visiting Newcastle, so we had a family catch up at my sister's house
3 My bff & I went to see Miley, it was ah-mazing! It was a shame my phone had no battery & I couldn't take any of my own pics though ( source )
4 As part of my sister's annual birthday week we made Greek inspired mezze for her birthday dinner
5 Romy grew some serious curls this month & picked up a bunch of cool stuff from The Wiggles

We kept ourselves quite busy this month, it's a little bit of a shame that I didn't take many pictures from our daily adventures though. I must remember to pack my camera more for November (yikes, that is only a couple of days away!!).

Brunch At Aunty Ash's House

My sister Ashleigh scored herself a long weekend off work to go to Kanye West, but before she set off on her exciting weekend with her girlfriends Romy & I spent the morning visiting and we had a little brunch date together.

On her morning travels Ash picked up some delicious jalapeƱo & cheddar bagels for our  brunch date. It's been a good couple of months since my last bagel and now that I've had a taste for them again I can feel a little bit of bagel fever coming on. I'm sure if I ask nicely Luke might bake a batch on his day off.

While Romy usually doesn't shy away from spicy foods, today she wasn't open to trying the bagels and stuck to her banana, blueberry & orange bread I baked during the week. I most definitely will be sharing this loaf recipe in the next couple of weeks because it would be extremely selfish of me not to considering how darn tasty it is!

During our visit Ash picked her first homegrown blueberry, it wasn't quite ready but it was still pretty exciting none the less! Ashleigh just recently bought her first home & the previous owners had planted a pretty extensive fruit & vegetable garden that has all kinds of things. I'm looking forward to our family dinners made using their garden produce.

I hope you enjoyed your Friday too & have a wonderful weekend ahead of you. I'll be working all weekend & Romy will be spending that time with Luke for the first time all by themselves. Fingers crossed I come home to a batch of freshly baked bagels!

First Post

First posts are awkward no matter how long you have been blogging for. So the sooner we can get this one out of the way, the sooner we can get to the good stuff.

And Together We is not my first blog, for the past three years or so I've been blogging over at Tastes Like Love. About a month ago I made the decision to give myself a fresh start with a new blog and a different direction. I began TLL when I was a twenty-two year old transitioning between studying and looking for a full time job post-student life. I am now a twenty-five year old mum with completely different interests. And while I could have changed my old blog layout and content and kept going on that space, I felt as though my past posts were clogging up my motivation to change the space. And I don't want to delete all those years of posts so here I am. Making another awkward first post and reintroducing myself to the blog world.

You can expect to see on ATW the trials and tribulations of raising a lively toddler, the meals my family eat, moments from our daily life + our little adventures together, craft projects, style posts & pretty things I find that I think you might find pretty too.
